These photos are taken during the middle of my Raya Holidays. Our main focus was to go up into the highland of Cameron for a three day rest in the cold mountain (highland!) air and then head to Penang to send me back to University. I don't like the last part of the trip but no choice. I still have classes even if I don't like it.
Back to our trip. We have been to Cameron Highlands several times before but it just never gets boring to be up there in the mist of the mountains (highland~!). Surprisingly, it was still cold (18 degrees in the morning!) and yes, strawberries are still growing up there. As well as water crest, cabbages, sunflowers and you know the rest. If not, take a trip up to Cameron Highlands. You won't regret it. :)
The spotlight of our three-day-trip up in Cameron is our visit to the 'Boh' Tea Centre located in Sungei Palas. Even though it is rather embarassing to say this, this is our first time heading up there to take a look at the Tea factory. Mom is a huge fan of Boh Tea products and so are the rest of us. What Mom eats, we do too. :D
~Tea Plants~
This is taken as Dad was driving his Pajero all the way up to the Tea factory. The road is EXTREMELY small and can only fit a single car. And what with the winding road, you can't possibly see if there is an oncoming car from the opposite direction. So road courtesy is a must at this point. Or down the ravine you go. There are certain points on the road that is wide enough to fit two cars so this is the part where you test your patience and manners and let the other car pass by first before you go on. So, up we went. The scenery is great. Nothing but tea plants.
~Parking lot at the base of the factory~Apparently, you can't drive all the way up to the factory. You have to park at the visitor parking area and climb your way up there. Not very convenient for the senior citizens but Mom and Dad exercise a lot so, no problem for my super parents to climb up to the factory.
~Dad and Mom, my super parents~Mom wasn't too happy because she was not wearing her sport shoes. Her shoes could not grip the ground well and nearly fell once. No fear, Dad is here. Or was there.
~ More tea plants~Dad and Mom explained to us that the leaves in the tea bag that you put into your tea cups are these young, yellow leaves. Apparently, they don't use the old green ones. New knowledge. I drink tea almost everyday and I didn't know about that. So what happens to the old ones? They are left to grow new ones. Obviously~ >.<
~The view as we climb up the hill~What caught our attention the most was this funny looking building jutting out from the hill cliff. An interesting piece of art. We found out later that it is a restaurant for visitors to take a break and drink what they serve best, tea. The part where it juts out gives you a very nice view over the valley of the tea plantation. Sweet~
~Little Brother, ever the impatient one~He has already left his foot marks in the building before we even step into it. That's my beloved little brother alright. :)
